WARM

WALNUT

The kitchen in this 1970's house was tiny. You could stand in one spot and swivel around to touch sink, stove, and refrigerator. The ceiling was 7-1/2 feet high, with a large fluorescent fixture in it. The space was also almost completely closed off from the rest of the house.

Incorporating the breakfast room more than doubled the square footage, and above the dropped ceiling was a vaulted one. Taking down the two non-loadbearing walls increased the visual size even more and revealed the view to the west. A partial wall was added back in to create a bit of separation from the front door.

Solid walnut, mother-of-pearl tile backsplash, and gray quartz combine for a warm organic modern style which fits the eclectic home.
