VICTOR-IAN

BATH

Houses built in the 1890's generally don't have en suite master baths, but they do frequently have a sitting room off a bedroom. This one in the Old North End of Colorado Springs did, and gave us the perfect space to create a bath for the homeowners, so they would no longer have to share with their children.

To create room for a dresser in the bedroom, the load bearing wall between the two rooms was moved a little towards the bath. We tried out many layouts on the computer to determine which one maximized vanity and shower size and provided good flow. An existing small closet was the perfect place for the toilet.

Finishes were chosen to fit the home's historic style while being easy to maintain. There is a mixture of sealed marble and faux marble porcelain, while bead board protects the walls. A clawfoot tub adds luxury and charm, and additional storage is provided in the large built-in medicine cabinet.
