BLACK
FARM
HOUSE
The main goal of the homeowners of this house in the country was to get rid of what they called The Brown Tower - the tall cabinet containing their ovens that stood in the middle of their great room. They wanted a layout that flowed well throughout the space and with the outside.
They hadn't thought of enlarging the window, but once mentioned, they never wanted to give it up. 84" wide sounded huge, but once in, everyone felt that it should have always been there.
New shiplap siding on the walls with black upper cabinets create high contrast drama. Rustic Alder base cabinets bring warmth and texture. The combination is Modern Farmhouse with an edge.
The new layout works perfectly for a family of three teenage boys and large extended family.
